When someone comes up and says something like “I am a god”, everybody says “Who does he think he is?” I just told you who I thought I was, a god! I just told you, that’s who I think I am. Would have been better if I had a song that said, “I am a nigga”? Or if I had song that said “I am a gangsta”? Or if I had song that said “I am a pimp”? All those colors and patinas fit better on a person like me, right? But to say you are a god? Especially, when you got shipped over to the country that you’re in, and your last name is a slave owner’s. How could you say that? How could you have that mentality?

I grew up looking up to Michael Jordan, Michael Jackson, Kanye West and Jimi Hendricks, how could I not feel the need to be the best at whatever I do.

I don’t get people. Why see someone doing something cool and be like “ima do that too”? You only get one life, why spend it trying to be someone else. I don’t know what it is that makes people jump on the good ideas of others and in turn cheapen what they created. We all pull influences but don’t just copy. I always think about how after DONDA designed all those Good Friday single covers, now everyone uses that font and style on their covers now. Originality always breaks through. Copies just blend in. From music to fashion to art just be you. No matter what they are doing around you… Be you!

Ignoring your passion is slow suicide. Never ignore what your heart pumps for. Mold your career around your lifestyle not your lifestyle around your career.

They appropriate because they have no culture.
